Philippine Superliga (PSL) MVP Jaja Santiago helped Saitama Ageo Medics get fifth place in the recent Japan V.League.
The former National University (NU) standout recorded 11 points in the Ageo Medics 17-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20 victory over the Okayama Seagulls in the battle-for-fifth place.
The 6-foot-5 Pinay middle blocker captured it from nine attacks and two blocks.
Ageo did not make it to the semifinals when the team only registered a 12-8 win-loss card at the end of the elimination just enough for fifth place.
As a result, Ageo Medics fell into the classification round.
In the classification, Ageo first defeated Hitachi Rivale (25-23, 21-25, 26-24, 25-14) to enter the battle-for-fifth game.
Last year, Ageo Medics won the bronze medal.
Japan V.League is over but Santiago has yet to return to the Philippines because Ageo will still participate in a pocket tournament in Japan.
Santiago is expected to return to Manila in March.
