Public school teachers in Leyte showed their support to Melita Limjuco where they voiced out their disappointments after the 55-year-old teacher got “humiliated” in Raffy Tulfo’s TV program in “Aksyon sa Tanghali”.
“Let’s defend and fight for our colleagues,” said Cecila Olimberio.
According to the data gathered by Sunstar, on Friday evening, an online petition already amassed signatures over 56,000.
“Disappointing, humiliating,” added Fidelino Josol, a secondary teacher in Leyte.
In the said Tulfo’s TV program which was aired last November 18, he asked Mrs. Limjuco to either give up her PRC license or face a criminal case. That’s after a grandparent of her student made a complaint about the alleged child abuse.
The grandparent, Salve Banez based her accusation from CCTV footage and from a person who she said saw the incident.
Mrs. Limjuco made a live public apology to what she has done yet the grandparent of the Grade 2 pupil insisted that she’ll quit her job.
According to their story, the root of the issue is about a report card that the student failed to return.
The chairperson of Teachers’ Dignity Coalition asked the teachers all over the Philippines to support their fellow teacher on the said matter.
“What happened to her might also happen to all of us,” he said.
“Nasaan ang DepEd sa mga pangyayaring ito? Bakit tila walang statement na pagsuporta sa teacher? Teacher ang taga hubog ng ating kabataan ngunit bakit tila lagi itong napag iiwanan sa benepisyo, karapatan, pari ba naman sa hustisya?” said another teacher Maricel Herrera.
Raffy Tulfo made his response yesterday during his public affairs program in “Wanted sa Radyo”.
