Matthew Wright is saddened by the departure of Calvin Abueva who has been his teammate in the Phoenix Fuel Masters camp.
Wright and Abueva have not been together for a long time in the Fuel Masters but a good relationship between the two has been formed, particularly in the PBA Season 45 Philippine Cup inside the Clark bubble.
That’s why Wright was shocked when he heard about Abueva’s departure who was traded to the Magnolia Hotshots in exchange for Chris Banchero and two draft picks.
“We became friends instantly. I’ll definitely miss the bond we share,” said Wright.
Wright could not do anything because it was a management decision.
It just wants to focus its attention on the upcoming opening of PBA Season 46 in April.
The entry of Banchero was also a big help, which Wright identified as also a strong force as an individual player.
Wright hopes the Fuel Masters can continue their good start in the Philippine Cup.
The Fuel Masters have almost reached the finals stint but failed after losing to Talk ‘N Text Tropang Giga in the semifinals.
