The Group B semis continues and this time it will fly going to the northern part of the country as the Family’s Brand Sardines-backed squad will try to salvage their season against the reigning Southern Division champion, the Tigers.
It was a defensive-minded game when these two squads first collided in Davao where their combined points only reached 75 points. The lowest the league has seen prior to the Zamboanga-Davao match was 92 points set by Marikina Shoemasters and the Cebu City Sharks back in Datu Cup.
Davao clamped most of the Zamboanga scorers where they limit them to a single-digit point in three of the four quarters.
The Cocolife-backed squad played without one of their main-men in Mark Yee as he was out due to an ACL and calf injury.
In Game 1, Emman Calo led the Tigers in scoring with his 17 points and seven rebounds. Calo was the only player from both squads who reached double-figures in scoring. Billy Robles added eight points and six boards in that semis opener victory.
Santi Santillan paced Zamboanga with his eight points and eight boards while teammate Leo De Vera had five markers and six boards.
