Many basketball experts are confident that Kai Sotto’s dream of playing in the NBA-G League is not fading.
This follows the incident when he returned to the Philippines to play for Gilas Pilipinas but did not continue due to the cancellation of the FIBA Asia Qualifers this February.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) took over the hosting of two groups for the third window, which schedule is still to be determined.
According to the 7-foot-3 player camp, he returned to Orlando immediately to prepare for the NBA.
Team Ignite will play in the G League bubble at the Walt Disney Complex with Filipino-American guard Jalen Green.
One of the positives that Sotto will still be in the G League is Kobe Paras where he defended his fellow basketball players in negative comments due to the imminent disappearance of his dream of entering the NBA.
“Instead of talking bad about him and his handlers, why not wait for the final word? Why not just support him and his dreams no matter what?” he said.
“Most of y’all opinions don’t matter. My guy is 18,” Paras added. “How foolish y’all look talking bad about a teen.”
To enter the Orlando bubble, Sotto needs to yield 6 negative coronavirus tests.
Ignite has already played 7 of its scheduled 15 regular season games and won 5, with its most recent victory coming against the Greensboro Swarm.
The regular season will run until March 6 and the top 8 teams will advance to the single-elimination playoffs, which will conclude with the final on March 11.
