Barangay Ginebra big-man Greg Slaughter was reported that he will be taking a break while there are rumors that he will be traded.
Slaughter made his announcement through his Instagram account.
“Gregzilla” started his message sharing how grateful he is while wearing the Gin Kings jersey from his rookie years and the number of championships he won with the most-followed franchise in the league.
“Six years, four championships, a lifetime of experiences and memories. It’s been a fun ride being with this team. I will forever be proud to have played for Ginebra, a dream of mine that came true when they drafted me in 2013.”
He also mentioned the reason why he is taking a break from the PBA and that’s for self-improvement in all aspects.
“With that, now that my contract has expired, I’ve decided to take a break to be able to work on myself in all aspects. I may not know what the future holds, but one thing is for sure, the best is yet to come!”
He ended it with saying thanks to SMB head honcho Ramon S. Ang as well as to his Ginebra teammates and coaches plus to the millions of team “NSD” followers.
“Thank you first and foremost to SMC and Boss RSA, and the rest of the management, Coach Tim and coaching staff, my teammates, and the entire Ginebra community. To the best fans in the world – I can’t thank you enough for all the support you have shown me throughout the years. I will forever be grateful!”
Slaughter is rumored that he will be dealt with NorthPort Batang Pier forward Christian Standhardinger along with rookie Jerrick Balanza.
Slaughter was selected by the Barangay Ginebra during the 2013 PBA Draft as their top overall pick.
He helped the franchise to win the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup, 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup, 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, and 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Slaughter also won the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Best Player award and named as PBA All-Star five times.
