Meralco Bolts import Allen Durham vows that he will keep coming back until his PBA dream is fulfilled and that’s by winning a championship trophy.
For the third time in four PBA third conference campaign, Durham and the Bolts settled with the silver award as they got beaten once again by their rival, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Yet, the man who is known as the “Hulk” had his consolation prize and that’s his third Best Player of the Conference trophy.
“I’m determined to win a championship,” he said. “With these guys, they really grew and be my brothers and they deserve one, too,” he added.
Durham thinks that early in the series they had a good chance to get on the upper ground of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals.
“We definitely had opportunities,” said Durham. “Game One, we had an opportunity. In Game Three, we had opportunities, but we just didn’t really capitalize and didn’t get some of the 50-50 things.”
Durham also acknowledged the importance of Raymond Almazan. If only the Bataan native was healthy there’s a higher chance for them to take home the elusive trophy.
“That’s why we got Raymond, because he was cleaning it up for us. If I helped over, he was there to clean it up and we’ve been doing that all conference. So to lose a player of that caliber definitely hurt us.”
Durham vowed that he’ll continue to work hard and will return next third conference to renew his championship chase.
“I just want to be a champion. It wouldn’t matter who it was against. We’ll get back in the gym and we’re going to try our luck again. We’ll keep coming until we get that breakthrough,” he said.
“Obviously, we gotta let some time pass and we’ll talk with the management, but I’m definitely still hungry.”
